TAC AND WORKCOVER TREATMENT REQUESTS

 

FOUR EASY STEPS TO MAKE SURE YOUR MEDICAL EXPENSES ARE PAID OR APPROVED ON TIME BY WORKSAFE OR TAC -

 

1. OBTAIN A COPY OF THE MEDICAL EXPENSE INVOICE FROM YOUR TREATING HEALTH PROVIDER

Regardless of whether your Doctor has performed the service and awaiting payment, you have paid for the expense yourself or if your Doctor has recommended a treatment be provided upon approval of the Insurer or TAC you should always get a copy of the Invoice in your possession.

 

2 ENSURE THAT THE MEDICAL EXPENSE INVOICE MAKES IT TO THE INSURER OR TAC

Far too often invoices go missing between a health providers rooms and the Insurer or TAC. This is the most common cause of expenses not being paid. Always send medical expense invoices electronically, via email to the the TAC or via WorkSafe's App available from the Apple Store (https://appsto.re/au/HbbZ2.i). An electronic confirmation ensures that the invoice has made its destination and can not be disputed in the future.

 

3. GIVE THE INSURER OR TAC 28 DAYS TO APPROVE OR PAY FOR THE EXPENSE

Diarise 28 days for payment. In that time chase the relevant person from time to time, but ensure you have a 28 day deadline in your calendar. 

 

4. IF NOT PAID, COMMENCE ACTION TO SEEK PAYMENT OR APPROVAL

If you have tried steps 1 to 3 then immediately commence action for payment. With WorkSafe that is by lodging a Request for Conciliation. With TAC it is by lodging dispute documentation. Contact m efor guidance with getting expenses approved.
